New Frequency Selectable Portable Wireless System
Since 90% of the portable wireless mics in the US professional market are from Lectrosonics, wouldn’t it be great if they built a frequency agile system for us? GUESS WHAT — NOW THEY DO!
Each UCR-200D diversity system has over 200 frequencies available. The receiver has an ingenious auto-tracking front end that fine tunes itself to match the transmitter and minimize the opening to interference. The system is compatible with the existing UCR-195s, which could be handy for those who already have UH-195 plug on “cube” transmitters.
The 200-D system is the same size as the fixed frequency older brother 195-D. How did they put all that extra smart stuff into the same size package? You would think something would have to go. Well something did have to go, and guess what it was… the receiver’s battery compartment! Oh, no! you say. No problem, I say.
The receiver still has an external DC input; it even has an improved locking connector. For receivers mounted on a Betacam, there is usually 12 volts available on a connector at the back of the camera (you guessed it, we make the adapter cable). For ENG work, an external system like our B.D.S. (battery distribution system) is a better choice than internal nine volts anyway. For all of you that work off of a cart, there are two good options: the Lectrosonics Quad box to supply power, or, once again, our B.D.S. system for the cost conscious. As it turns out, the improvements to the receiver cause it to draw more current than before, so the expensive nine volt batteries would not last long anyway.
This is quite a day for Lectrosonics and sound pros. It is one we have waited on for quite some time.
